To the Gallaudet Community,

I am very excited to announce the commencement of the International E-Newsletter. This E-Newsletter will enable Gallaudet faculty, staff, and students to remain apprised of events, activities, and notable individuals of the university and the three sub-units that comprise the Office of International Programs and Services (OIPS):

• Center for Global Education (CGE)
• English Language Institute (ELI)
• International Services (IS)

In an effort to promote environmental conservation, the format of this biannual E-Newsletter is electronic. While we are committed to providing the community with access to information in a visually appealing format, we are equally committed to nature conservation. Any individual desiring a hard copy of the newsletter can easily obtain one simply by printing it from a computer.

I would like to take this opportunity to announce some very exciting upcoming events. In the spring semester, OIPS will be celebrating the 20th and 32nd anniversaries of the ELI and CGE respectively. Many events will coincide with this occasion, including International Awareness Week (IAW) and the first Miss and Mr. International Gallaudet Pageant, a wholly student-initiated and student-driven program. I am looking forward to this occasion and the focus it will garner for the Gallaudet international community.

Lastly, I would like to thank the OIPS employees and international students who made this E-Newsletter a reality. I am sure that this new endeavor will serve as an invaluable source of information and educational entertainment. I am happy to present the first publication of the International E-Newsletter.
